daytodaytodaytodaytodaytodaytodaytodaytoday

Just dawned on me... January 27th, 2011 will mark 5 years. I'm going back to color and trying to come up with a new set up. Never thought this would go on so long. At this point, it seems it would be silly to stop. I wonder if I appear to be aging or changing at all. I am excited to see all of this in 10 years/20 years/and on. I wonder where we'll all be.

Summer News

This summer has proven to be quite a busy one and I am excited for a few things coming up in the near future.

First, I am very excited to share work that has never been on a gallery wall before in the Yancey Richardson Gallery summer group show, Incognito: The Hidden Self-Portrait, featuring work by Uta Barth, Anne Collier, Amy Elkins, Mitch Epstein, Lee Friedlander, David Hilliard, Tom Hunter, Bill Jacobson, Jodie Vicenta Jacobson, Kenneth Josephson, Lisa Kereszi, Esko Mannikko, Ray Metzker, Arno Minkkinen, Abelardo Morell, Matthew Pillsbury, Lynn Saville, Stephen Shore, Rachel Perry Welty and Francesca Woodman.

In addition to the show in New York, Hous Projects Gallery is taking a selection from the group exhibition "The Naked Truth" to their semi-new Los Angeles space. I am very pleased to be included and show in my hometown. The show opens next month. More info to come.

730 days straight...
I just had my two year mark with daily self portraits.
Decided to smile for the occasion.

Cover Child...
Visual Arts Journal, Spring 2007
Cover Story: Screen Captures

"The Internet, as many artists have discovered, has become a singularly important promotional tool. For three SVA artists- Amy Elkins, Kieran Vogel and Noah Kalina- the Web does even more, serving as an interactive platform, offering up a new medium for projecting their individual personalities."

Today marks the anniversary of my self inflicted regimen. I've gone 365 days straight without missing a beat and will keep moving on.

Life has shifted and is irreversible.
We have no choice but to move with the current.

A wonderful book that showcases New Orleans artists has been created and put out into the world by Constance. I have been fortunate enough to be get work into it (and yes... I happen to have hopped from New Orleans to New York just under 3 years ago... I miss the place dearly). It is being distributed mostly in bookstores in New Orleans but will trickle into other areas of the States soon. You can buy a book here or read the statement behind the book here.

"Shoot It, Blog It, Share It-A new generation of image-maker is entering the online conversation and exposing the individual creative process to a whole new audience." By Miki Johnson // January 3, 2007
As of today: American Photo has included me in an online publication about blogging that can be seen here. I'm entirely flattered to be included in an article featuring photographers like Magnum shooter Alec Soth.

"I want to ride the grayhound bus. I don't want to look like a criminal. All I have with me is my sweat shirt and sweat pants and both have my id # printed on them. That and I'll have a duffle bag to carry my belongings. I don't want to look that way... I'm having a friend send me something else."

"What I've learned through my most recent spiritual retreats is that excitement and fear have the same physical sensation if you don't name it. The sensations I'm feeling are seemingly from both. I'm not sure which it is."

"Even though I had a lot of questions answered today I still don't know a lot of what's going to happen next."
