Sign posts on the way to what might be..

Looking through a book I was given as a gift in 1996 or 1997 by a wonderful art mentor... it's amazing it's traveled with me from California to New Orleans to New York to Portland. I've gone in a large circle around the country over these past 14+ years toting books that I should crack more often.

"There are moments in our lives, there are moments in a day, when we seem to see beyond the usual. Such are the moments of our greatest happiness. Such are the moments of our greatest wisdom. If one could but recall his vision by some sort of sign. It was in this hope that the arts were invented. Sign-posts on the way to what may be. Sign-posts toward greater knowledge."

"Cherish your emotions and never undervalue them."

"You pass people on the street, some are for you, some are not."

- Robert Henri from the Art Spirit, 1923
