This past Friday started with meeting up one-on-one with Brian Ulrich to catch up on current events... walk over to the Armory Fair together and share a state of being overwhelmed by thick crowds and crafty works. Jon Pell swept us past the registers and lines, right after a quick and friendly run in with Tom Gitterman of Gitterman Gallery. Walking around with Ulrich was pretty funny because we couldn't quite walk 10 feet without running into somebody who he knew. I was along for the ride. I met William Lamson, who's videos are fantastic and Dan Holdsworth, a London based photographer who's work was up at STORE gallery. As for me, I was completely nervous and excited about seeing a huge stack of EYEMAZING magazine's current issue (I have a lovely 8 page spread in)... it's my first big publication and there it was at the Armory show being sold like hotcakes for $5 a pop vs the normal $33 stand price.
Paolo Ventura was there trying to meet up with me but the maze of booths kept us apart. Phone tag ensued as I was off in a shuttle bus with Bill Sullivan and Brian Ulrich to the PULSE Art fair across town. There we met with Kevin Faulkner, Amy Stein, Shen Wei and a few others as the fair was winding down. A table of ten, some really lovely photo chatter, good food...
Makes for quite a good end to the day.
