Absence & Presence

Finally (though I wouldn't swear upon it) the winter seems behind us. People are outside, the weather is nice, things are rolling along.

Up sprouts up a million things to do and I know that I certainly won't be able to make it to all of these but wanted to share none-the-less. These are shows that I am going to see at some point while they are up and at our fingertips here in NYC.

Worcester to Dumbo

I just got back into town from MA after a whirlwind visit with Stephen DiRado, Clark University and after attending one of his infamous Salons (he's been hosting artists, photographers, writers, actors for these wine + conversation hang for years).

Shall we rest? Probably not. Tonight Ruben Natal-San Miguel has a show opening with Greg Miller out at Kris Graves Project in Dumbo. After his endless promoting, buying and exhibiting of so many emerging artists over the years.. it is nice to see him flip the coin and have his own work on the wall. I look forward to the show. Press release here.

Road Trip

from the series Bell Pond

Small world. Years back Stephen DiRado, a photographer and professor based out of Worcester, MA, and I somehow fell into contact with one another. We were both working on photo projects about our fathers at the time, though I'm not sure if that's why or how we met. Over the years we have stayed in touch, traded prints and now after several years we will transition from what has so far been solely an internet based friendship and meet in person. Tomorrow I trek up to Worcester, MA to speak to his thesis students at Clark University. I am so glad to finally meet Stephen, as I think he's such a fantastic and generous photographer. He has a lot of really amazing work on his site... but these are my favorite three series. Enjoy.
