Normally not one to get political...
But I felt compelled to quote a few lines after reading this BBC article about Afghanistan. Reinforcing the word failure... again and again. I never did believe in wars and this one just seems never-ending.
--

"US in Afghanistan failure warning... "

"The US mission in Afghanistan will "likely result in failure" unless troops are increased within a year... "

"Inadequate resources will likely result in failure... "

"Failure to gain the initiative and reverse insurgent momentum in the next 12 months... risks an outcome where defeating the insurgency is no longer possible... "

"Any of these risks, in turn, are likely to result in mission failure."

Swarming Birds, 2009

-

‘Tis of the essence of life here,
Though we choose greatly, still to lack
The lasting memory at all clear,
That life has for us on the wrack
Nothing but what we somehow chose;
Thus are we wholly stripped of pride
In the pain that has but one close,
Bearing it crushed and mystified.

I didn't make it to Hellen Van Meene's lecture on Monday... but I will definitely make it to her opening tonight at Yancey Richardson Gallery. I'm curious to see the new series, as I've always been a fan of her work. It would, of course, be nice to finally meet her as well. We've been in a few shows together and I've always wanted say hi.

Sick and laying around watching movies at home today...

This is by far one of the most beautiful movies I have seen in quite a while. The trailer doesn't do it much justice. If you haven't seen it, you should rent it immediately.

"The cinematic equivalent of a hymn, Be With Me is a film about human beings and their search for love.".. simply gorgeous.

Be With Me directed by Eric Khoo

I found the works of Hiroshi Watanabe today in Visura Magazine's lastest online issue. Going to his site felt like hitting a gold mine in terms of how much amazing work is there to be found. Whew! Below are some of his works.. but go see for yourself here.
