WIP is gearing up for our first physical curating experience. We submitted to the Young Curators New Ideas II exhibition and landed this great opportunity at PPOW Gallery. More info on the PPOW site as well as ArtSlant.

Basic description: Amani Olu Projects, in conjunction with P.P.O.W Gallery is pleased to present Young Curators, New Ideas II, a curator focused exhibition that examines new voices in contemporary art through the perspective of seven New York based curators. These varied micro-exhibitions experiment with curatorial practice and an exploration of ideas as physical form.

Settling back into NY and the motion of the city hasn't been easy lately..
Vacation ending is never much fun.

Last week I lost a dear friend down in New Orleans and I wanted to take a moment to post a few of the photos I had shot of him over the years. Hart McNee was a wild guy.. an amazing musician and artist and a good friend of mine. Some of my fondest memories of New Orleans (especially post Katrina) were with Hart wandering on foot with his dog through the Marigny and talking about the mysteries of life. He touched the lives of many and his music surely reached the lives of many. Full obituary here

Back in the States and feeling ready to run around some more...
Europe was fantastic and it was a little hard to come back so soon.

The museum show in Vienna looks really great and if you happen to be stumbling through Vienna before mid-October than go check it out. Info here. For more install shots you can go here.

I loved that I was introduced to some new work at the show by artists that are sharing the wall-space with me. Andreas Mader's work resonated. The website made it settle in even more. I love these portraits and the time lapse that occurs within the work.

Of course it was amazing to get to see Roger Ballen and Wolfgang Tillmans work up close and personal as well!!

And last but not least I should probably show an installation shot of my own work!
